About Chuck

Before finding his direction in life, Chuck drifted through many jobs, including copier salesman, stand-up comic, blackjack dealer, telemarketer, substitute teacher, private detective and donut maker. At 25, Chuck drifted to St. Thomas on a one-way plane ticket, where he came of age through a series of adventures, starting as a bouncer in a rough-and-tumble working-sailors' bar and ending up as crew on a 53-foot sloop sailing across the North Atlantic.

Chuck stepped off that boat in Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea a changed man, at the helm of his life and charting a new course. He earned a masters degree in communications and professional accreditation, served as press secretary for Congresswoman Susan Molinari, speechwriter for Virginia Governor George Allen, communications director for a Virginia secretary of transportation, director of Virginia's Adopt-a-Highway program, and as an executive speechwriter with three Fortune 500 companies. Chuck currently is a writer with Capital One Financial Corp.

Chuck is a motivational speaker, a regular columnist for the Chesterfield Observer, and pens frequent humor pieces for publications such as Richmond Magazine, Home Style, WorkMagazine, Richmond Bride magazine and Welcome Inc. magazine. In addition, Chuck was a finalist in the Richmond-area 2004 "Last Comedian Standing" competition, sponsored by the Richmond Funny Bone and Q-94. Chuck also authors the new book, Build Your Castles in the Air: Thoreau's Inspiring Advice for Success in Business (and Life) in the 21st Century.
