Area Dad Asks Daughter On Every Song If That's Lucy Dacus

On a recent drive with his daughter, Midlothian father Jim Cabell asked on 47 songs in a row whether a female singer is Richmond’s own Lucy Dacus.

“I appreciate him taking an interest in my music, but I swear to God if he asks me again if this is Lucy Dacus I’m going to throw my iPhone 12 Mini right at his balding skull,” said a clearly agitated Aspen Cabell. “How can he not tell the difference between Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, boygenius and Snail Mail? Honestly, sometimes it’s a wonder to me he ever made it to mid-level manager at PFG.”

For his part, Jim Cabell was blissfully unaware of is daughter’s frustration. “Aspen loves our father-daughter time together,” Jim said, beaming. “We talk and joke and laugh. She introduced me to this great local artist, Lucy Deacon! I also I play my favorites for her, like Jimmy Buffett and Alanis Morissette.”

“That’s another thing!” Aspen added. “I’m not sure why he’s so obsessed with Alanis Morissette, but it’s pretty cringe when he’s singing her lyrics at the top of his lungs – has he ever listened to her lyrics?”

At press time, Jim was excitedly describing their most recent drive to Sonic.
